harry potter & the half blood prince
it took me 4 days to read the book...but yes, i finally finished it yesterday. not my usual standards. would've finished the book faster if i was more free. had to sneak some reading time in the bus/train/non-office hours and before sleeping. hehe...
spoilers ahead. you may not want to read on if you haven't read the book :)
*sob sob* waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. why did dumbledore die? why did snape betray him...& kill him with the avada kedavra curse while he was defenseless? dumbledore's death seemed so abrupt & unexpected...thought he would live to see harry grow up. his adventure leading up to his death seemed somewhat pointless too...journeying so far and facing so much danger...only to find out later that object that he wanted to look for during his adventure was a hoax.
harry's all alone now. no mother, no father, no godfather (sirius) & no mentor (dumbledore). ron & hermione will help him in whatever way they can...but harry will ultimately face lord voldemort alone.
there's a lot of coupling & crushes going around in this book too. raging hormones, seeing someone of the opposite sex in new light & all that. harry, ron, hermione, ginny...even lupin & tonks have all been struck by cupid's arrow!
hmm...i think i'll read the book again & add in more comments later :D
this is what i have to add after reading the book for the 2nd time: j.k. rowling likes to use animal metaphors to describe her characters' appearances. examples?
#1 horace slughorn (new defence against the dark arts teacher) has a moustache that makes him look like a walrus
#2 rufus scrimgeour (new minister for magic) has hair & eyebrows that give him the appearance of a lion
#3 nymphadora tonks (an auror, a good wizard who defends the magical community against dark wizards) has mousy hair when she's extremely depressed
#4 marvolo gaunt (lord voldemort's grandfather) has features that make him look like an ape/gorrila
#5 bill weasley (ron's brother) is cursed to have wolvish features forever, after being bitten by the werewolf, fenrir greyback

U know, there's this clip I saw of a guy who played a nasty prank on Potter fans.
After finishing the book, he walked up to a bookstore a few days after day of HP:THBP's launch and yelled:
SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE!
A woman yelled out; "YOU BITCH!" and ran after the guy ^^;;;
hahahaha. he was so asking for it...revealing who kills who...to fans who prolly haven't read the book yet :p
I wan to read too...maybe u borrow me AFTER U READ SECOND TIME?? your PRADA thingy is too wordie and it is a bedtime book for me...less than 5 mins sleepy liao....ehehehe....i will try reading it...really...
er...i'm lending my harry potter book #6 to noie. perhaps i lend u my book #1 first...so u can get an idea of what HP is about :)
Phhhbttt~~ I've read book #1 till #5 li.....ehehehe waiting for 6....Noie....hiee....erm....maybe u're not that free to read it now? Perhaps u wanna pass it to me first?? :D ...ehehe
