all her bags are packed...she's ready to go...

"so i'm leaving on a jet plane...don't know when i'll be back again..." sang my sister. in a few hours' time, she'll be leaving malaysia for canada. this brave sis of mine will be in new brunswick, canada for about 3 years to complete her tertiary education.

i remember sending her off last year at the airport, and i don't look forward to it either later. i'm getting all teary-eyed already...coz i'll miss her a lot! we're alike in many ways. we share clothes, books, shoes...and have similar tastes in music and movies. i think we often sound similar over the phone, coz a few people have mistaken one for the other! but my sis is definitely more gutsy and independent than me. why? coz she took up the challenge of going to a new place on her own..going there by herself...not flying with anyone she knows and not knowing anyone at her new place. and canada is like on the other side of the world!

thankfully, that was last year. she seems to be coping well now, making loads of friends...visiting new places...learning new culture...studying in a different environment. will miss her dearly and all that is essentially her: her nonsensical chatter, her mock scoldings, her generous and fun-loving nature, her loyalty, her optimistic outlook. in short, my partner in crime and best friend.

until next year...parting is such sweet sorrow. will always pray that she'll be ok and coping well on her own...
