blood-sucking ptptn
called ptptn yesterday morning. got some not-so-good news regarding our loan payment:
#1 2nd upper degree holders have to pay back the FULL loan amount. no discounts applicable :(
#2 we have a grace period of 6 months to pay back our loan without interest. 6 month period starts from the day we finished our degree, which, according to our certificate is 3rd june 2004…and ends around december…i think. full loan payment is rm52,000. if we pay back in installments, we’ll have to pay back rm300+ per month, for 20 years (see contract). that equals to about rm77,000!!!
#3 asked when we’d be issued the notification letter to pay back our loan. officer said that’d be after ptptn receives confirmation of our graduation from mmu. but…if we send in a verified copy of our result transcript and cert, they’ll issue it earlier. obviously, we wouldn’t wanna have to start paying so soon so we’re not gonna send those in ourselves. unless…this just occurred to me…if there’s a statement on the notification letter regarding #2, and if u’re able to pay back within this period…then we’d better send those documents in. think i'll call back ptptn to clarify this matter

To foreign readers who have no idea what PTPTN is, It is a sub-species of the more common pest known as the mosquito and a distant relative of the leech. Being acronyms for its longer scientific name "Peskysium Troubleious Parasitious Taking-away-moneyious Nothing-but-long-term-annoyanceious", This varmint breeds amongst the shallow stagnant waters of the backstabbing organization known as the goverment and feeds off twice the amount of money that was originally given to students for their tertiary education. Crikey! Ain't she a "beauty"! *sarcasm*
