chinese new year shopping
my boyfriend asked me: "you do take this CNY shopping seriously don't you? or you're just looking for an excuse to shop? hahah"
the question came about after i was waxing lyrical about the new clothes i'd bought for CNY. so far...i have 2 red tops, 1 purple, 1 brown, 1 teal (blue/green colour) and 1 pair of black 3/4 pants. with the exception of 1 red top bought in singapore, the "damage" cost by the other 5 items was $275. money worth spent, i think :)
this year...i decide to hit some of the independent boutiques rather than shopping malls to shop for my clothes. so i dragged evie along and off we went to shop at places like blook, cats whiskers, chyna dolls and little.black.book. out of all the shops, i think i enjoyed my shopping experience at blook the most because of their good service, comfortable changing room space and easy shopping environment.
came back with my new CNY clothes and sis exclaimed about how pretty they are, that i have good tastes...and how she looks forward to wearing all my new clothes as soon as i wear them for CNY! *rolls eyes* (my sis and i have this thing for sharing clothes. we're both about the same size so we tend to borrow each other's clothes, whether for work or casual outing. but the general rule is that we don't wear new clothes bought by the other person until she wears it. hehe)
back to the question at hand.
i guess i take CNY shopping seriously because it's one of the rare times when i really shop for new clothes. as in not a one-off item that caught my eye, but that i make an effort to browse at a few shops to look for stuff that i'd like to wear (and of course stuff that i look good in).
it used to be shopping with mum up until the early years in uni. i guess with me earning my own moolah and having my own transport, i can plan when i want to shop (during weekdays when shops are less crowded), who i want to shop with (friend or sis) and where i want to shop (boutiques or malls).
i'm all done with the tops now. just need to get a pair of jeans, maybe another pair of work pants, and hopefully new sandals. these i don't plan to get from boutiques, but from one of the retail shops like pdi, padini authentics, u2 or giordano.
did i mention i'll be out CNY shopping with sis in early feb? she specifically applied 1 day off work so she can go shopping! *grins*
